Calia Italia at ‘Salone del Mobile 2021’: the new Gourmandise collection surprises with comfort and chocolate
‘Salone del Mobile 2021’: This special post-Covid edition a success for Made in Italy
Milan’s ‘Supersalone 2021’ (curated by Stefano Boeri) can undoubtedly be considered a symbol of rebirth for the city of Milan and the world of design. After the traditional ‘Salone del Mobile’ was cancelled due to the pandemic, this special event held from 5th to 10th September at Rho Fiera exceeded all expectations and saw over 60,000 visitors. The success of this 2021 edition is also due to the 425 brands that decided to take part in the initiative and wanted to celebrate the quality of ‘Made in Italy’ and international design.
Calia Italia, now in its 34th year at the ‘Salone del Mobile’, could not fail to be one of the exhibitors. This year we wanted to highlight the mastery of Italian craftsmanship and creativity by presenting two new design proposals – the ‘TiBacio’ footstool/table and the ‘Madame G’ armchair – along with a new collection, the ‘Gourmandise Collection’,inspired by the world’s most popular food: chocolate.
Calia Italia presents Gourmandiseat ‘Supersalone 2021’, the new collection that makes your mouth water
Thanks to the exhibition at the physical stand of the ‘Supersalone’ and the one at the Calia Italia Store in Corsico, the company had the opportunity to exclusively present the new ‘Gourmandise Collection’, inspired by many shapes and types of melt-in-your mouth chocolate. Created from a combination of comfort, chocolate and creativity, the models in this collection “start with a tray, forming a base upon which the whole project is developed, leading to the cushioning, then the backrests and armrests – all resting on a tray like a chocolatier offering chocolates of well-being”, explained Architect Saverio Calia, General Manager of Marketing and Development at Calia Italia.
In particular, two products from the collection were previewed at the fair:
The Cremino, a sofa with a design inspired by chocolate in the base and on top of which cushions, backrests and armrests are arranged like chocolates of all shapes. It is a deconstructed model that is elegant and contemporary.
The Gianduia, a model that celebrates the extraordinary Italian chocolate cream of the same name – in both colour and shape. This sofa is in fact a triumph of comfort, softness and reminds the eye of tasty melting chocolate.
The other models in the collection that customers had the opportunity to ‘taste’ were presented at the Calia Italia Store in Corsico and include: the ‘Dragées’, a structured and extremely elegant model, ‘Gianduiotto Jr’, son to the ‘Gianduiotto’ founder of the collection, (which is unstructured and ideal for informal moments of total relaxation) and ‘Pralin’, a model that can be completely disassembled and reassembled in total freedom.
Not only Gourmandise: ‘TiBacio’ and ‘Madame G’ are the other novelties of the ‘Salone del Mobile’.
In addition to the new ‘Gourmandise’ collection, Calia Italia also presented ‘TiBacio’ at the ‘Supersalone’. This new footstool/table is made entirely by hand and was created during the pandemic to celebrate the desire to return to embracing and sharing life’s best moments. Another great star of the stand was the elegant and versatile ‘Madame G’ armchair, an international version of ‘Giuggiola’. To celebrate Calia Italia’s partnership with Casa Azzurri, it was presented in an elegant blue fabric version as a tribute to the victory of the National team at the European Football Championship in July 2021.
